EAP services are confidential. This means employees or their family member calls the toll-free number, neither Humboldt County nor anyone else will know an employee has used the program unless they choose to tell them. All calls are confidential except as required by law (e. g., when a person’s emotional condition is a threat to him- or herself or others, there is suspected child, spousal or elder abuse or abuse to people with disabilities).
Easy to use:
Call the EAP to find out available services. When employees can use additional services, the EAP providor will work with an employees mental health benefits through their health plan or refer them to community resources to help them resolve their issue. EAP services are in addition to any mental health benefits employees may have through their health plan plans.
All EAP counselors are qualified mental health professionals. But most of all, it’s important for employees to be comfortable. If for any reason an employee would prefer to talk to a different counselor, they can let the EAP provider know and they will reschedule the employee with someone else.
Employees can even choose to work with a professional through televideo services. Televideo connects employees to a counselor from the comfort of their own homes. All that is required is a computer, internet connection and webcam to talk in real time.
This is a service employees receive through their employment with Humboldt County, so there’s no charge when they call the EAP provider.
The EAP is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Employees can call anytime for:
